ZOOMINAR 0700: “A CASE OF CLAUSTROPHOBIA DELAYS THE NEUROLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS”
Neurology Role Play: “A CASE OF CLAUSTROPHOBIA DELAYS THE NEUROLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS”
What is a Role Play? As used in this context, a Role Play is a reenactment of a medical appointment wherein only the doctor, patient (and other players, if applicable) have a script. The Interpreter does NOT have any script and will interpret between the doctor and patient using English and the native language of the patient. The class is broken down into groups called “breakout rooms” according to the native language of the patient. There are at least 3 ‘players’ in each breakout room (excluding the Instructor who rotates among the different breakout rooms and offers advice/answers questions, as needed).
Here is a summary of this particular Role Play called “A CASE OF CLAUSTROPHOBIA DELAYS THE NEUROLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS”: An accident brings this patient to the Neurologist who then refers her to a Neurosurgeon. The patient has complications, which cause the Neurosurgeon to request an MRI at a special facility, to be followed-up with a new appointment with him. This Role-Play is rated INTERMEDIATE 1 for 3.0 CEU, although it does contain some surprising medical terminology, which will offer some challenges to the Interpreter.
